Nobue Ibaraki's ceramics are unique in appearance, hand-built with earthenware and coated with natural glazes that evoke a feeling of ancient treasure. Many of her ceramics are metallic in appearance, which is due to the firing process. When glazes containing cobalt or copper are fired with clay that is composed of other metals they react chemically to create a color that is opaque with unique variations in tone.
