Stephanie Schneider

ANTWERP, BELGIUM

Raised in the German Alps, Stephanie Schneider’s naturalistic sense of beauty was born from the quiet vastness of her home. After studying fashion and textile design at the Reutlingen University in Germany and at the Winchester School of Art in the U.K, Stephanie Schneider launched her jewelry line in 2006 as a symbiosis of both disciplines.

As a fiber artist, Stephanie is most inspired by the work of Anni Albers, the prolific abstract artist who found creative freedom in the Bauhaus school during the early 1920s, as well as indigo and shibori masters of Africa and Japan. Working as a fashion designer for many years, she was consistently drawn to embroidery and traditional handiwork techniques.

Now based in Antwerp, Stephanie has evolved her unique process to create jewelry that echoes the structure of fabric. Always working with the same type of silver chain, at times plated in gold, she connects the chains by weaving in silk thread, linen or mohair yarn. Her pieces remain immediately recognizable, infinitely wearable and refreshingly seasonless.
