Daniela Gregis

Bergamo, Italy

With an emphasis on high-quality natural materials and exuberant splashes of color, Daniela Gregis marries modern sophistication with artisanal Italian craftsmanship. Her aesthetic is informed by the balance of the natural world; fueled by poetry, humility and harmony. In a world where traditional artistry and meaningful human connection perpetually compete with blind consumerism and technology, Daniela boldly lives and creates in devotion to the former.

Inspired by the peace and quality of life in Bergamo, Italy, where her studio is located, Daniela Gregis’ look embraces an updated artisanal country feel. She has designed for close to 30 years, creating everyday clothing that is both intellectual and soulful and investing her time in traditional techniques and textiles. Many of her pieces feature hand-painted fabrics, hand crochet and imaginative textures. Her dyeing is made using natural colors with shades that evoke the natural landscapes surrounding her studio. Daniela focuses on creating universally relevant silhouettes for all women, regardless of age or body shape. Piously devoted to her materials, not an inch of her exquisite fabrics are ever wasted. Garments often feature creative use of the unused fabric: small inlays delicately sewn on, matching bags and belts deftly constructed and handkerchiefs and table linens produced from any remnants.

Daniela expertly navigates the paradoxes between rustic and modern, cozy and minimal, and the personal and universal. Her garments are light and soft yet have surprising structures. Voluminous shapes hold magic in their drape, fabrics and colors are mixed to form artful compositions and flowing layers are feminine and spirited. Her work embodies a desire for a life lived in harmony with each other and the earth, framed in a modern, highly wearable appreciation of beauty. Wear Daniela Gregis with purpose, intention and a little bit of humor.

Red & Orange

Rosso e Arancio

Tomato red is key to Daniela’s collections. Slightly more orange-toned than typical cherry varieties and brighter than deep scarlet, the bold hue enamors with its joyful vibrancy – and reminds us that dopamine dressing is still very much a thing!

Liberty Prints

Stampa Libertà

The subtle elegance of Daniela’s works is perhaps the most notable – a well-placed slit at the cuff of a sleeve or at the notch of a neck ensures each piece is flattering for a myriad of body types, even when the tag says “one size.” The crumpling of her printed cottons, sourced from the acclaimed Liberty London, lends itself to easy dressing. No iron or pressing needed – just throw on the piece and find your inspiration.

Peach & Cream

Pesca e Panna

Daniela’s works often whisk us somewhere tranquil and serene. This is best exemplified within her selection of soft neutrals, which she renders in her familiar palette of cream, sand and honey. In lightweight linen and cotton, these pieces are breezy, refined and ultra-wearable.

Blue & White

Azzurro e Bianco

Vertical stripes, particularly when rendered in tones of blue and white, bring to mind sun, surf and the pleasant tang of saltwater. This classic warm weather essential reads as slightly nautical, thanks to a crisscrossed history in both high fashion houses and navy uniforms. Daniela’s variety of choice skews on the thinner side, somewhere between a candy stripe and a bengal stripe.

Black & Jewel Tones

Nero e Smagliante

Daniela’s glamorous black and dark navy dresses and coats shine. Across all Daniela’s styles, we find her silhouettes to be as wearable as they are magically simple–rendered with just a few cuts and flattering on so many body types.

Accessories & Shoes

Accessori e Scarpe

In addition to handmade leather shoes and handbags crocheted from the scraps of her dressmaking, Daniela Gregis pursues the art of basket weaving in a wholly Italian way. Every year, Daniela and her team harvest olive branches and palm leaves from the surrounding hillsides. The boughs are bent into the shape of the basket, referred to as the “rib cage”, while the materials are still green and pliable. Smaller reeds and sprigs are tightly woven through each rib to create the walls. The repetitive, contemplative motion takes patience and time to perfect – and ensures that no two baskets are quite the same.

For COoler Climates

Per il Freddo

Daniela’s cold-weather-wear has all the essentials: squishy alpaca hand-knits, crinkly cotton shirting and pragmatic water-resistant-but-cashmere-lined coats. Crafted in the same way as her lighter works, Daniela uses natural materials to strike a balance between utility and sophistication.
