Telling narratives with beautiful fabrics and experimental techniques, Australian label Song for the Mute takes a seasonless approach to fashion. Founders and childhood friends Melvin Tanaya and Lyna Ty release their collections as intimate chapters, inspired by Lyna’s life experiences.
For Melvin and Lyna, the brand director and creative director respectively, the textiles come first. Working with fabric crafted at Italian, Japanese and French mills, Song for the Mute’s clothing is produced in Australia by their small tight-knit team. Song for the Mute’s textile-focused designs are known for their deconstructed silhouettes, with raw edges and vintage-inspired details.
