Mad et Len
Grasse, France
In 2007 Mad et Len founders Sandra Fuzier and Alexandre Piffaut left their jobs in Paris and retreated to the village of St. Julien du Verdon in the south of France. With a passion for using their hands and living authentic lives, they have crafted a truly intoxicating collection of scents in the form of candles, potpourri and perfumes.
Being close to Grasse, France, known as the fragrance capital of the world, Mad et Len is near the artisans who have helped their products become of the highest quality. The evocative scents will stop you in your tracks, a power they achieve through using undiluted oils and spices, celebrating these natural aromas for their entirety and resisting artificiality. While strong and complex, the materials used are all safe and free of toxins. These candles are also visually appealing, coming in an earthy, hand-forged iron vessel that is burned and treated with raw oils, with a lid to match.
The core concept behind Mad et Len’s selection of scents and work production is inspired by a quote from Marcel Proust’s “Du Côté De Chez Swann” (Swann’s Way):
“The smell and taste of things remain poised a long time, like souls, ready to remind us, waiting and hoping for their moment, amid the ruins of all the rest; and bear unfaltering, in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence, the vast structure of recollection…”
