This design is inspired by ancient Tibetan thangkas. It features a playful Snow Lion as the central character, the emblem of Tibet, representing its snowy mountain ranges, power, strength, fearlessness and joy. The mythical Snow Lion is wearing traditional Tibetan armour and headwear, decorated in the national stones of coral and turquoise. A strip of patterned fabric coils around the creature, and an ornate crown crests the design. Beneath the Snow Lion rests a stylized platform representing lotus petals, holding a Tibetan tea set and carved bone prayer beads. The milk from the Snow Lion’s bulbous paws is reputed to contain healing powers. An arc of flames frames the center of the design, a technique often used in ancient Buddhist art to show that something is sacred. The background of this design contains a snowy Tibetan landscape, flaming temples and bone trumpets. The Tibetan script within the design reads ‘tashi delek’, an auspicious greeting meaning ‘good luck and good health’.

Every Sabina Savage design is hand illustrated, telling the story of the collection through the composition and details. The scarves are drawn in full, and the four corners of each scarf offer different elements, ensuring the wearer will display a unique feature however the scarf is folded.
