The International Folk Art Market is an annual celebration and marketplace held in Santa Fe, NM. Since 2004, they have provided the opportunity for folk artists all over the globe to attend and sell their wares in one large, exciting fête. What was originally born as a small grassroots organization has now blossomed into a sprawling non-profit effort that empowers international folk artists year round.
Through the recognition and honor of timeless cultural traditions through craft, IFAM creates the platform for their artists and artisans to not only serve as entrepreneurs, but catalysts for positive social change within their home localities. The resulting support provides clean drinking water, education, improved health care and subsequently thriving folk art communities worldwide.
We are thrilled to announce a series of trunk shows to be held in our three storefronts the same weekend. Our visiting designers include Mieko Mintz, Lauren Manoogian, Angel Chang, Aboubakar Fofana, as well as a pop-up of By Walid.

Mieko Mintz
NEW YORK, NEW YORK
Born on Kyushu, one of Japan’s most Southwestern main islands, Mieko Mintz studied fashion in Tokyo before moving to New York City, where she still lives today. Her line of one-of-a-kind Kantha jackets has since become her signature, fusing traditional Indian handcraft with sophisticated and contemporary Japanese designs.
Lauren Manoogian
NEW YORK, NEW YORK
Lauren Manoogian’s career began with a jewelry and accessories line forged from sourced scrap metal and surplus materials found in her urban Brooklyn landscape. Since these experimental beginnings in 2010, her work has shifted into a collection of easy prêt-à-porter intended to evolve with the wearer through all walks of life. The highlight of her line is her incredible textural narrative – wherein she crafts natural materials, such as alpaca and pima cotton, into luxurious, tonal essentials.
Angel Chang
GUIZHOU, CHINA
In 2012, Angel Chang stole away to the wilds of China’s Guizhou province to learn the traditional fabric-making techniques of the region. After years of blazing trails in high-tech fashion, she grew disillusioned with the lack of sustainable innovations available within the industry and decided to forge a different path. Today, Angel posits indigenous craftsmanship as a solution to climate change. Her garments are made with zero electricity by the native peoples of the Guizhou province. Her fabrics are traceable to the source – handwoven and handspun using ancient techniques that mimic the cycles of nature.
Aboubakar Fofana
MALI, AFRICA
Born in Mali and raised in France, Aboubakar Fofana is a multidisciplinary artist and designer whose working mediums include calligraphy, textiles, and natural dyes. Using only raw, natural materials, his working practice revolves around the cycles of nature, with themes of birth, decay, change and the ultimate impermanence of these materials. He is renowned for his contributions towards the reinvigoration and preservation of West African textile and indigo dyeing techniques.

Established in 2011, Walid al Damirji created his eponymous By Walid line out of sheer demand from the fashion industry. His specialty? One-of-a-kind patchwork garments crafted out of rare and antique fabrics sourced from all over the globe. Often they are luxurious assemblages of Rococo silks, antique lace, vintage linen, Baroque embroideries and Spanish chinoiserie shawls. By upcycling these exquisite materials, Walid celebrates the core building blocks of beauty and artistry of the past.
