Lola Brooks
Farmington, Georgia
An artist and metalsmith among many other talents, Lola Brooks studied fashion at Pratt Institute. She soon found herself drawn to the opportunities that jewelry presented, and earned her BFA in metal from SUNY New Paltz. She is inspired by the Victorian era, the Arts and Crafts movement and the American art jewelry movement that followed World War II. Lola is fascinated by jewelry as a cultural signifier and is influenced by historical jewels, which were often imbued with meaning far beyond their physicality.
Lola’s pieces have been exhibited at the National Ornamental Metal Museum, The Society of Arts and Crafts, Cleveland Museum of Natural History and the Museum of Craft and Folk Art. She has work in the permanent collection of the Museum of Art and Design, Yale Art Gallery and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
