James & Tilla Waters Handmade Persimmon Stoneware Plate

Award winning studio potters, James and Tilla Waters, are based in Carmarthenshire, Wales, where they hand-make thrown tableware, using both stoneware and porcelain clay bodies. For this line, James & Tilla use a Persimmon glazing process to achieve a highly glossy, deep red-to-black finish. In areas where the glaze is thinner, an iron-black crystallization breaks through and highlights the more contoured areas.
