Alanui is an Italian knitwear brand founded by brother and sister duo Nicolò and Carlotta Oddi. Alanui’s journey started in 2016 with a collection built around a single unique piece, produced in an array of patterns and colors – the Cardigan. Translating into ‘large path’ in Hawaiian, the brand was born from the idea of a warm and emotion-charged garment that would travel with its wearer throughout their lifetime.
Before founding Alanui with her brother, Carlotta forged her own path in fashion. With a masters in fashion design from Pilitecnico di Milano she went on to work at Vogue Japan for eight years.
Alanui’s designs bring together Italian craftsmanship, quality fabrics, creativity and a meticulous attention to detail. Their signature cardigans are made with the finest cashmere, using four to seven different yarns in each piece.
Carlotta and Nicolò see the cardigan as part garment and part artwork, “a white canvas continuously reinterpreted to translate the emotion of each journey, through constantly changing patterns, colors, materials and knitting techniques.”
