The gardens of ancient Egypt began as simple fruit orchards and vegetable gardens, irrigated with water from the Nile. Gradually as the country became wealthier, they evolved into pleasure gardens, with flowers, ponds and valleys of fruit and shade trees as depicted here in the ancient fresco found in the Tomb of Nebamun, in Thebes, in the 18th Dynasty. The simplicity of the painting is complemented by the soft pigments of brown, green, cream and gold. In this, we found our setting for the handsome spring collection from SHI (designed by Shayesteh Nazemi) and the earthy cottons and linens from similar designers shown below.
