Sabina Savage takes inspiration from all over the world as she creates extraordinary narratives that tell imaginative and detailed stories about the lives of animals both great and small. This collection is built on the true story of the Royal Menagerie housed at the Tower of London (1200-1835). It references many of the astounding and unusual zoological tales recorded from its history and the legend of the building itself, as well as paintings from the artist Walton Ford and the botanical illustrations of British artist Jane Loudon (1807-1858).

"The big cats bound along the River Thames to Green Park, surprising a Royal tea party in full swing. Sporting Queen Victoria’s diamond crown and King Charles II’s armills, the beasts clatter through the bone china and twirl through the bunting. As they roll in the flowers and feel the grass beneath their paws, they know this sensation is long overdue." - Sabina Savage, The Tower Menagerie
