Mehmet Cetinkaya Silk Embroidered ''Arabatchi'' Coat in Blue and Pink

This kaftan was inspired by a mid-19th century Arabatchi tribe coat from Turkmenistan in Central Asia. The original is in the collection of Bruce and Terry Baganz. In collaboration with traditional local artisans, Mehmet Cetinkaya Gallery has carefully handcrafted this masterpiece kaftan using only natural dyes. The kaftan was embroidered with silk threads using a surface-darning technique on hand-spun and handwoven silk ground. Each piece is made honoring the history of its cultural tradition, with no two pieces produced exactly alike.

• Open Front
• Hand-Embroidered Using a Surface-Darning Technique
• Long Dolman Sleeves
• Twin Side Seam Pockets
• Twin Side Slits at Hemline
