Award winning studio potters, James and Tilla Waters, are based in Carmarthenshire, Wales, where they hand-make thrown tableware, using both stoneware and porcelain clay bodies. For this line of ceramics, James & Tilla use the Chün glazing process to achieve a high-gloss, opalescent blue finish. Due to the carbonate materials used in the glazing process, bubbles are formed and trapped in the glaze, which creates refraction in ambient lighting. This refraction gives the Chun glaze its unique range of color from pale blue to pale blue-grey.
