Developed with natural indigo, this piece was created using the Jamdani technique. In fine cotton yarn, jamdani patterns are created by highly specialized hand weavers through an extra weft, using either a shuttle or a needle. Impossible to replicate on machines, this time intensive process creates diaphanous garments historically reserved for royalty alone. In Hindi and Urdu it is often referred to as ose ki boondein or shabnam (morning dew) and aberawan (running water). Its diaphanous quality is described by Sufi poet Amir Khusro as “the skin of the moon.”

Launched in 2009 as a clothing brand by Chinar Farooqui, Injiri believes in the beauty of hand-weaving processes. Injiri centers their brand around story-telling, and the pieces they produce are reflective of the journey of many hands at work. Injiri makes clothing for women and textiles for the home through sustainable use of materials.
