Must-Visit: Santa Fe Dry Goods, the Desert Edit of Barneys

Santa Fe Dry Goods

Santa Fe is a pretty magical city — there are green chile cheeseburgers, an incredible mix of cultures, Pueblo Revival architecture — but shopping? Not its most famous offering.

Unless you want turquoise jewelry or southwestern textiles, you’re probably not going to plan a trip to Santa Fe around shopping. Which is why Santa Fe Dry Goods, a store located right alongside the city’s main plaza on Old Santa Fe Trail, caught me by surprise last week.

An incredible find hidden right in plain sight, the store carries brands like Dries Van Noten, Issey Miyake, and Rick Owens, but almost exclusively in colors like indigo, rust, mustard, and cobalt, what I took to calling the “desert edit of Barneys.”

Back in New York, I’ve visited the e-comm site almost daily, and am considering a life solely in linen. (Look at this gold linen! Look at this really breathable suit!)

Santa Fe is where I want to move when I turn 55 before retiring in Palm Springs ten years after that—but there’s no reason I can’t start dressing like that now. Which is why I’m ready to invest in the deep blue culottes calling my name.
