Traits

Barbara Platte, who was born in Germany, lives and works in Paris since 1988. 
In 1994, she founded the company TRAITS for which she now acts as the managing Director and head of the creative team.

Barbara Platte studied textile and fashion design at the “Fachhochschule für Gestaltung” in Hamburg / Germany from 1983 to 1988, finishing with an excellent diploma.
After this, she received a grant by the French state to continue her studies at the “Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs” in Paris.

Finishing her studies in 1990, she started to work for “Olivier Lapidus” and was appointed responsible for the collection licensed out under the name of “Lapidus”.
In addition, she designed exclusive and often hand-painted fabrics, scarves and textile accessories for the Atelier Haute Couture of “Lapidus” and “Gianni Versace”.
During her work for “Lapidus”, she designed for further companies in France, Italy and Germany (“Jil Sander”, “Helmut Lang”, “Hermès”).

In 1994, Barbara Platte founded TRAITS and since then, the company centres its activities around the design, production and marketing of textile accessories such as scarves and wraps.
