Trippen

Brandenburg, Germany

Since the beginning of Trippen in the early 1990s, the company has remained true to its aspiration to perform beyond common fashion rules while establishing its own unique way to design and produce shoes. Trippen shoes are engineered to be avant-garde, architectural and supremely comfortable.

Angela Spieth and Michael Oehler conceived of the idea for their experimental shoe designs after coming across a uniquely shaped wooden sole from the 1970s. This encounter inspired the brand which embodies the spirit of its home city, independent and unconventional. Almost three decades later, Trippen continues to produce its unique shoes with the utmost sustainable and social consciousness in its own factory north of Berlin.

Today Michael Oehler heads the company with designer Claudia Hoess. They both play with form and negative space in a functional and sculptural manner, producing shoes that adhere to high environmental standards. Trippen obtains exclusive, long-lasting materials like alder, poplar and beech wood through European suppliers and uses only vegetable tanned leather. Design follows function, with Claudia and Michael working together to make sure they have met the four criteria that drive their creativity: ecology, social responsibility, design and the needs of their customers.

High quality design begins with high social responsibility standards. From the minimal to the experimental, each model is made to last – transcending seasons and outliving trends to instead grow with their wearer as they journey through life.
